Do you have an iPod, or know someone who does?  Then here are a few things you need to be aware of.  Apple recently began distributing DRM-free music tracks, or copyright-free music.

DRM stands for Digital Rights Management.  These new DRM-free tracks can be shared and given to your friends without fear of copyright violations.

However, these new tracks, like the old ones in fact, contain the buyer’s name and email address.  To see it, launch iTunes and right-click a track.  Then click “Get Info”.

If you share your iTunes library among friends or over a peer-to-peer network, anyone can see your name and email address.  Certain other online music vendors do something similar, so think twice before sharing your music!
